I've got an 06 short bed and when I was routing my air hose (for air horns) over my fuel tank I noticed a hose, maybe 1/8", hanging on the back of the tank. Now I'm worried I may have unhooked the hose when I was fooling around with my air line. One end of the hose was connected to the tank and the other end wasn't conected to anything. I tried to feel around for a barb that was in need of a piece of hose but I couldn't find anything. The hose I am talking about is located on the rear of the tank between the tank and the bed. I don't know if any of you guys that have dropped your tank before noticed if it's just an overflow hose or what. That and if anyone is going to drop their tank soon, I'd appreciate if you'd take a look. I appreciate the help.

There are a couple of hose barbs on the top of the tank that are suppose to be vents. In the early 3rd Gens, folks seemed to have a problem with water getting in the tank as the barbs were located in a depression. Maybe they finally decided to put a piece of hose on the vents to help keep debris out? Just guessing.
Anyone?

That's what I like to hear. Thanks man. Anyone else with some info?

I recently dropped my tank to install my big line kit. There is a barbed fitting close to the lift pump opening. Mine didn't have a hose on it though. AK Ram is correct though, it's a vent hose. Just leave it hang.
There is a TSB out for that. I think they call it roll over valves? Anyway, my tank has 2 of them and I put a piece of hose on each one to keep the water out of the tank.

Sorry man I don't cause I don't have a digi camera but if I come across one I'll post and let you know. On the other hand I have saved a few pics* that helped me. I haven't totally finished mine it's just good enough for me but I'm going to this site (Intake Hoses, IntakeTubing, and Intake Clamps) to get some parts and finish it the right way. That last site has it all! All of this stuff I got off of this website. And the sites below aren't 06's but it's the same deal. Hope it helps.:thumbsup
