Not sure on the difference in 12v to 24v on EGTs but mine usually started up around 200F ish soon after start up in the winter and took maybe 30-60seconds to get to 250F ish... which is normal idle temps when still cold. In the summer it just warms up a bit quicker... only need to make sure to let her cool down to 250F-300F before shutting down to safe the turbo.

hi, well i plugged mine in most of the time, noticed that if i let either the 2000 or the 2006 idle the engine would cool off and start with the white smoke. i just carefully accelerated until the ps stopped screaming so much and would turn the wheels, then take off slowly at first ,, i too chicken to mat it my egt's would be down off the bottom of the gauge(30F) until i get a mile down the road, then would climb slowly, noticed that driving in bad weather, -30kms/hour in a 100 zone,, it would get so cold that would be off the bottom again, shifting down did not show more heat(have covered rad) have had to wear parka this winter a few times. (new CUMMINS thermostat)

I always plugged in as well, and if I let it idle for more than a few minutes it was high idled right around 1000 or 1100 rpms. Otherwise I held it around 1100rpms for a bit then drove nice and easy, but I usually just did very short drives from home to the shop... by time I got to my destination I was getting some heat from the vents lol.

When its real cold like -20 to 10 F the EGTs seem to be higher. The temps seem to flash up high very quickly.

Seems to idle at 300-325.

In normal 40-70 deg temps its around 250.

Previous owner or someone before that even rigged up a little pull lever hooked to a chain hooked to the pedal. Haven't really looked that close at the set-up, but just pull the lever out... holds a steady rpm.
