Dimming/Brightning lights

I have noticed the past several weeks that my interior lights will be at normal brightness but then will dim suddenly along with a slight decrease in engine rpm's. This is happening with accessories off as well as on so heat/ac and the position of what vents the air blows through doesn't make a difference either. I idled it up to about 1k or so on a cold start the other night and it did it a little worse than normal, and the truck would seem to lose almost 200 rpm then the lights and engine would come right back up. Batteries, Alternator? Ideas?

yes there is a air heating grid on the intake(driver side silver plenum sp) its about 1 1/2 in thick between the intake manifold and the air intake. when the block temp is cold enough it cycles on and off to heat the air before entering the engine, and it takes alot of juice.
its normal for the volt meter to drop way down and loose a few RPM's too.

I'm thinking it quits doing it after you get up to 20 mph, is that right?

Mine drops a full 2 volts (or more?) And dims every light in sight.

Okay, I was thinking about that too but i've read with other trucks that it could be a battery/alternator issue.

Learn something new every day!

I guess no one reads the operation manual anymore. If they quit putting them in the trucks that would save dodge millions a year, and i am sure they would pass the savings on to us owners...

I got rid of mine and have put the power-blok in it's place. I've never waited for the "wait to start" light to go out. Crank right away and it fires right up. Also is gonna put some years back on my alternator, not having that cycling parasitic draw on it.
