Anyone have any leads on any wheel to wheel side steps for a 2003 4 door long bed?
All I can find are the Westins (p/n 24-54225) on Amazon/EBAY. They're expensive and I'm not sure I like the big radius on the front side but not the back.
Also, if anyone has any pictures of their 2003ish truck with wheel to wheel side steps that would be great.
this is what i have although i dont have a long bed but im almost postive that they make a long bed with a step on it to reach over and get stuff out of the bed . I love mine they are built well and i have had 2 250 pound guys stand on them at the same time and they didnt twist or flex at all . I would highly recommend getting the texture pc, when mine get wet they get crazy slippery im going to take mine off hopefully one day soon and have them line-x
I like those - those look nice. I wasn't sure if I wanted the 3'rd bed side step but my dad just got the full length ones on his new truck and it's pretty nice. They dont look as good, but are more functional.
We have NFabs on our '12 CCLB at work. I actually really like them and considering how pissed I am that my Westin's are peeling paint, I may replace them with NFabs.
You won't be sorry with the N - FAB's. I have the cab only because I have a flat bed but I know they also have wheel to wheel. Very heavy duty! Replaced a set of Willmore's that were very similar to Westins. Destroyed them during last year's Elk hunt!
Rolling big power makes some as well I believe... I bet they are pricey Haha the nfabs are nice, but why not build something similar yourself for much cheaper and stronger? I will be building a set shortly and I think I'm going to go for an nfab style
I have used Amp steps for three years now, no problems with them and I am not exactly a little fellow. I love the way they tuck up underneath when not needed.
So, where can I get the best online price for a 6 step N-FAB textured black for my 1996 Dodge 4WD long bed cummins? The rear club cab door doesn't open in my model so I really don't need the second step. Unless I need to get on the roof for something? I have a auxiliary diesel tank in my bed under a Leer cap with the flip up widow so the wheel to wheel bar with the step is really useful
I had a set of Westin black wheel-to-wheel 6-step nerf bars on my 05 qcsb 2500. I had them Linex'd and they turned out really nice. They had the turn in at the front towards the frame, and the back just stopped straight in front of the rear tire. Worked great to get into the bed. (I know the OP said he doesn't like that look--but I was ok with it.) Only problem I ran into was I had a 6" lift on the truck with 37" tires and I pulled a heavy trailer once & the tire contacted the back of the nerf bars. Other than that I really enjoyed having the extra step on both sides. I like the N-Fabs too, but a little pricey for me.
Are there any bars that are actually strong like frame mounted? I don't want some flimsy little bar that mounts to the inside of a flimsy rocker panel..
I ended up getting the N-fab 3 step (wheel to wheel) textured steps from autocustoms. Had a couple small dings from shipping (packaging was fairly pathetic) but overall I love the steps. I use the 3rd step a lot for putting small stuff in the bed without just tossing it in. I CAN reach, but this is nicer. I dont think any of the standard complaints are valid with the n-fabs (loops are too small, slippery, etc). They're not ROCK solid, but they're not flimsy either.
Love the look of your steps that are coated to match the lower part of your truck.... my only question is do the get slippery in the snow, slush, and or ice? I am tired of stepping onto my nerf bar and my feet sliding out from under me! I have even thought about taking mine off so that we (myself, my wife, and my daughter) do not end up trying to use them over the winter and landing on our butts! What was the cost to color match the coating on the nerf bar and lower part of your truck?
Haven't had the chance to try them in the snow yet, just had them coated this summer, but so far I thing they are less slippery than they used to be in the wet.
As far as cost, I think I spent as much on the sandblaster and Line-x as the bars cost when new! over $500!
But it was more than the cost to me. I cant replace this truck so...
It was time for a makeover, so with new tires/wheels, painting the flares and lower body color to match the wheels, Linex to match the paint.
Finally put in a rear locker, diff cover, titan fuel tank, stereo, floor mats, exhaust,..
I probably dropped $8000 on fixing up my Ram this summer, but it just turned 70k, so its got a lot of life left.
I have nfabs on my 4th gen and they are perfect placement and give the truck a mean stance! Also they do not get slippery with mud, snow, and ice. I had the factory ones on my truck before I slipped on them 2 times trying to get into my truck. I took them off in the Walmart parking lot because they pissed me off.
