Just recently I noticed a slight oil coming from my rear wheel hub cap. So I'm guessing it's my rear axel seal? Any input would help me out a lot . How hard is the job to do ? And is that all I'll need is just one rear axel seal ? Thanks guys !
seals are fairly simple to do. also, plan on doing both sides while you're at it...just cheap insurance. you'll also need to get new axel plate gaskets (i dont know the actual technical term). When you pop off your lug covers and see that flat round plate with eight bolt heads on it, there's a gasket behind it; you'll need two, one for each side.
Ok cool thanks to both of you I found the seal and the gasket for about $45 at dealer! Will be tackling the job here in the next couple days hopefully !
I too have some sort of leak, but mine seems to ooze out from somewhere near the rotor. The inside of the wheel is covered in an oily/greasy mess and the rotor is the same way. Is this the same seal the OP is referring to?
I am dry by the flat 8bolt metal piece also referred to.
That is the correct part # for the seals, and the flange seal is 5086767AC. Pinion seal is 5086789AA if anyone needs it. I'll being doing them all in the near future.
Just finished doing mine super easy ! Only thing i
Don't deel confident about is that little snap ring didn't seem to sturdy when I out it back on I drove it done the road got on it all that and so far so good.
