Ac not working, compressor doesn't turn on, clutch does spin freely by hand.
Troubleshooted the following
-has 12 volts on the harness to supply the compressor
-has around 4 volts on the harness to low pressure switch
- both fuses in tipm good
- tried to add freon but don't think it will work since compressor doesn't come on
What steps should I take now?
- I don't think I can jump the low pressure sensor on the harness since it has 3 wires.
I tried to add freon but was scared to. When I hooked up the canister the gauge read over 100 in the red. The directions say the compressor has to be running to add, which is not my case. Also the fitting won't connect to the low side only the high side where the black canister is by the firewall.
There must be something wrong a/c is always charged on low side.you in the red zone because your connected to high side.as soon as there's freon compressor will click on if there's no freon compressor will never come on.you may have a busted pressure switch.
That's what I thought, but this can of freon won't attach to the low side fitting unless I'm at the wrong one....low side I believe is in front by radiator and the damn thing won't attach to that fitting.
Low side is always the bigger diameter tube on a/c.i just bought my truck so I'm not sure where low side port is located.go harbor frieght and get the a/c gauges they are cheap but will do the job.i would drain system and refill it and go by whatever the capacity of system is usually about 2lbs.try to put in what's required for example 4 8oz cans.
I want to jump or bypass the low pressure switch but it's a 3 wire, I seen somone posted what wires are going to and I can't for the life of me find that post again.
