Hi,
Replacing the ignition switch on an 03 3500. I've never done this before. From what I've seen, you can just pull the cover and replace the unit??
Also, does the unit come with key or is that optional to replace that part.
And lastly, are replacements all equal or is there a brand preference.
thanks

So I've been doing research...
The key does not have a chip. From what I understand, I just need to
-disconnect batteries
-remove trim panel behind steering wheel
-remove ignition key assembly
-remove the key tumblers that have the key code to obtain number sequence
-reconfigure the new key assembly with codes from old assembly
-reinstall new assembly
-replace trim panels

I've heard rumors that there is an anti-theft component. The truck does have keyless entry. I don't see any documentation that says either of these will be an issue..

thoughts please.
thanks
