Makes it difficult for us shade tree mechanic types; almost every procedure in the service manual starts with "Connect Scan Tool" and very little content about using a DMM to check for faults at various places.

First I've heard this, mine has been pretty much the same in terms of gauge readings and seat of the pants power which is usually a lot more than the rear tires can put to the ground.

I had to call numerous times and eventually spoke with the parts department to get the stuff I needed, kind of a joke but helped a lot when I showed up for th recall along with another guy who hadn't called ahead.
