We've only got a few thousand miles on our '93 - but the old rotary Bosch seems to like the stuff. We do drop about 200 rpm - I'm guessing that is a timing issue. WVO burns slower than diesel - so maybe bumping the timing up a little is what is needed. The engine smooths out and runs quieter on WVO. Lubrication is NOT an issue - hot grease works much better than cold diesel to keep the parts well lubed.
The only issue is water - you have to be pretty meticulous about dewatering the WVO before using it. I use a water heater and a vacuum pump - it's a small price to pay when the fuel is free. The additional Racor filter in the truck has a water block filter which does a nice job of separating out any water that forms from condensation.
I've heard that the P7100 (I'll know when my conversion is finished on the '96) and the VP44 pumps have no issues with it. The VP44 has a more critical need for fuel pressure - but gauges and a low pressure alarm are good ideas even if you just run diesel. The pumps don't know if you are running grease or diesel - and as long as the WVO is heated sufficiently, it flows like diesel and works well.
