I would love to get better mileage also but when I need the power I gladly accept that power costs mileage. The 5.9 was not a perfect piece when it came out I am sure so if your not happy go to the 5.9 but when they get the 6.7 worked out you will be sad.

because you lose more MPG from the regen process than was estimated (by my friend who works at Cummins). I wasn't expecting a 25% drop with an engine that's only 12% bigger

I knew it would be less, but I wasn't expecting 15 MPG highway.
And honestly compared to my friends 5.9, I don't believe my 6.7 is that much faster/stronger. You lose a lot of power with the emissions stuff, which is evident with the dyno results.
