Make SURE you buy a Hella or Bosch system and make them work. These two are made in Germany and will last forever. I'm in the custom motorcycle industry and we install the Hella's in many customer bikes........ Best price is a few dudes off Ebay that I have ever found. You can buy new and used there...........
Just quick FYI..... if you get a 8000 or 10000 bulb you might 'think' that you are getting a better light (bright), not necessarily true... If you want a "blue" light (from hella or bosch) get the 8000 or 10000 but if you want the brightest with the most light ( I think) it's the 4000 or 6000 series bulb....... Made by Phillips in Germany
Hella has the smaller ballast and the bosch has a bigger box. You can expect to pay **** ABOUT**** 200-300 bucks for the Hella... That's what use for the last six or so years.... I will be installing them in my truck very soon......
I came across a cool deal, there is a guy on Ebay that will do a retro fit for any car and install HID. ( you can find them in the "Hella HID" section of Ebay) The article went on to say how he did a retro fit and the subject for the article was on a Dodge truck, so I read it. I was REALLY SLICK and looked almost stock. He use The Lexus 430 lens and the rear end of the light. He then retro fitted it to the back of the Dodge head light. It looked GREAT and best of all it was 100% legal in all 50 states... (im sure someone will want to argue about this)
This is what im looking to do and Im going to fallow what parts he used and try and do the same thing to mine so it will be a Hybrid of "back of light" Lexus and the front will be Dodge... Should work awesome and look great too!!!! Once you experience REAL HID you will (privately) ask your self,,,, How the helz did I ever live with the other type bulbs...... I have them on all my bikes............. Don't get suckered in with the China JUNK all over the net and in stores.... Go with HELLA or BOSCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Phillips bulb
Here is an idea off of Ebay for example, this is what we use all the time...
eBay Motors: HELLA PHILIPS Gen3 HID XENON D2S CONVERSION KIT LVQ212 (item 260172799044 end time Oct-29-07 01:12:21 PDT)
I fallowed one of these guys "store fronts" to a HID forum and it was really easy to find the guy making the retro fit kits for cars on there... at the time I was not looking for this...
I have read on different DC forums that the Dodge has a trip in the head light and you will have to add a resistor to some part of the head light system. This is the only part that I don't know about YET. The factory computer checks to make sure it has a load of 35/55 W all the time or something and when you go over to the HID units they pull 55 for one second to light the gas and then they fall off to 10-20 W.. (someone might chime in to what the heck im trying to say,,,, a few beers in me doesn't help my thinking) Anyhow, if anyone hooks up an HID system and does not add the resistor the HID will come on for about 2-3 seconds, FLASH REALLY fast for about one second and then turn off..... it will do this every time you turn on and off your light... the HID ballast is being cut power or the power is being altered by the computer while the HID ballast is lighting the gas in the bulb... The resistor is about $.50 from Radio shack if I remember the post correctly. But what resistance and where to put it I don't know..... anyone reading this might want to do a little poking around before dropping $300.00 + bones..... It not a 'true' plug and play like a few years ago....
