5/100,000 or 7/100,000 — the argument has nothing to do with the duration of the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty but rather when the warranty begins. The Warranty Information Booklets for, at least, model years 1999-2002 explicity state in elementary school English that the Basic Warranty and the Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty run consecutively rather than concurrently.
A read of
Code of Federal Regulations, Title 16, Part 701 as well as the appropriate Warranty Information Booklet should give any Cummins/Ram owner an unbiased interpretation of their various warranties.
Asking DaimlerChrysler to interpret the warranty is like asking the fox to guard the henhouse.
