HELP!!! We purchased our 2002 Dodge back in January....
We purchased our 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 back in January. This is the first diesel we've ever owned. A few weeks ago it started acting up. We drove out of the drive way and it wouldn't go over 15 mph. It didn't have any power at all. I shut the truck off, restarted and it ran great. It didn't do that for a few days and then it started again. It's like every day we go through the same routine.
After some research, we decided we should change the fuel filter. That helped a bit, but it's still doing it! It's throwing the code P1693 which doesn't seem to matter much - just that the engine's computer has transmitted a code to the truck computer! That's really helpful...
Our thought is to replace the lift pump. The truck has 102,000 miles on it. We read somewhere that that's when the lift pumps go out. We're going to have the computer read on Saturday, but wanted to see if anyone out there had any ideas.
