Started the truck this afternoon and got this message on the DIC: Active Air Box Needs Service see your dealer. Anyone one know what that means? Only 2000 mi. on the truck.

Mine was faulty and they had to replace it. It was stuck pulling warm under hood air in the middle of the summer. Going by the big back order list when they first ordered mine I'm guessing its a somewhat common problem. In the winter I can see that flapper freezing shut pretty easy. In my opinion it was a good plan but poor execution with poor fitting door flaps and plastic linkage from what I could see.

I have had poor luck with the "active air" myself, I bought a ram 5500 3 weeks ago, last Monday I was on my way to work in a snow storm and I got a CEL and a message that stated "service air filter" it turned out to be FULL of snow! I brought it to the dealer after work and dropped it off. They gave me a new filter, cleared the CEL and cleaned the air box out. They also ordered me a winter front with the expectation that it will prevent this again...

What about the summer rain?

really come on!

I'm in Arizona for the winter so there is no snow or ice to deal with here. Where is this flap located that some here have mentioned?

I've had the message as well. I got it in freezing weather. Basically, I'm figuring that the flapper motor couldn't move because it was frozen in place, so it threw the error. Once it thawed and cycled the door after 2 start ups, the message disappeared on its own.

Sounds like we need to get some bailing wire and tie the thing open.
