Adding foglights to '13 2500 Tradesman?

I love my 2013 2500 Tradesman, but can already see that I'd like to have foglights (either OEM or aftermarket).

Obviously, with the Tradesman grille, there is no provision for fog lights.

I'm not opposed to aftermarket lights mounted on the front of this truck, if I can figure out a good spot.

I did a search here, but didn't see anyone who has installed aftermarket fogs.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am also very interested, I have seen several post of guys changing over the 2012 and under with some replacing the front bumper and running new wiring harnesses. I am putting s Westin grill guard on this week and will be looking at using that as a mounting platform the question will be wire separately on own switchor tie it to the factory sswitch? I hope others let us know how to and what is needed?

You will need a dealer flash to use the Factory switch mount. Easiest thing is to wire separately! I installed an aftermarket ranchhand got some fog lamp assemblies from rock auto and went that route. Mines a '12 so i don't think it should be much different.

This is SO funny to see this thread... I was looking at aftermarket fog lights for my Tradesman today and wondering all the same questions!! Too Funny....... I wanted something LED, about 2"x5", aftermarket that I can mount in the grill right below the lic plate bracket in the lower grill area. I want something bright but not looking to break the bank doing it... and help if someone finds something good would be great!

Subscribing to see what you guys come up with! I'm not ballsy enough to cut up the bumper so there has to be another option without reducing airflow and making the truck look like crap.

Stroupdog,

Are your fog lights still working? I am looking at adding factory fog lights to my 2013. I have the aux light switches as well, and your photo is the first I have seen that actually show's something wired up to them.

I added foglights and thought it would help some guys visualize the process if they want to do the same. Every bumper has the hole where the fog lights attach. Even my tradesman bumper that didn't have the cutouts for foglights had the hole on the inside.

Then the fog light bracket attaches to the foglight lens

Which is attached to the hole in the first picture

My new chrome bumper came with three bolts on each light that I used for installation. As for the wiring, I ordered an aftermarket installation style from Retrosolutions so I don't have to change out the factory headlight switch and wiring. I will post up more details when I get it wires. Hope this helps!

I haven't done the wiring yet but what I'm using is a kit from Retro soultions (HID relay wiring harness - Retro-Solutions Store) that way I have a nice wiring harness with a relay that I'll just use to tap the marker lights. All I did was choose a wiring harness for the fog light bulbs (supposedly 9145s according to Sylvannia bulb replacement guide). I will post details when I have the system hooked up and working.

Country72,

i picked up a factory bumper with the foglight holes from benny boyd dodge in lampasas, texas for 96 dollars. i bought the oem fog light housings and fog light brackets from rock auto.com for about 76 dollars. for less then 200 dollars you can add fog lights to your tradesman. i will post a pick at the end of this month once i have time to get it on my truck.

This connector is located on the driver's Sid fenderwell. There is a black box on top that uncle's and moves out of the way.

I dont remember the pin numbers off the top of my head but you'll have a yellow/white and orange/white if I remember correctly. They are on one side of the pkug connector with nothing on the other side.

You get RAM to activate the sales code, connect those two circuits and you're good. I have pin #s and colors at home...on the road now.

There's a 'jumper' harness that connects one fog to the other, and then has a two prong connector on the end.
That two prong connector usually plugs into the body/headlight harness on trucks equipped with fogs. Our trucks do NOT have this provision in the body/headlight harness, so there us nothing to plug the foglight jumper in to.

To buy the wiring from the foglight jumper to the white connector shown above, you would have to buy a huge harness because it is tied in with other circuits.

To get around this, just make a two wire home made harness that goes from the fo glight jumper connection to the white/orange and white/yellow wires.

Or, you can source factory connectors and make a harness that plugs right in and is stand-alone. You can get the 'pins' out of the electrical connectors and the sockets from a junkyard. But, most yards wont let you cut wiring and you won't find a new truck in a pick-n-pull.

I will try to find my paper with pin locations and wire colors later. If I remember right they are pin #14&15...but dont hold me to that.

My truck didn't have the oem holes for fogs but picked a bumper up from a dealer with some extra on hand. I put the lights in myself and made my own harness. I use the low beam as the signal for a remote relay so they come on everytime my lights automatically come on.

I then had a dealer install the oem headlamp switch with the fog option and I use that to power on 4 individual LED lights on my light bar.

When I have all the lights on and the high beams & LEDS I'm pretty sure you can see me from outter space.

I grew up with a Todd Fergusen in Kelowna. You related?

So I've been doing some research on adding fogs and dodge definitely is making it hard. Hopefully Tuesday I'll be able to find out a little more but here is a pic with what I'm hoping is the missing piece to be able to add fogs using the factory controlled switch. I can't find a part number anywhere online. This is for a 2015. All this can be found at

I already have the jumper.

Here are some wiring diagrams.

That's exactly the piece that I have been unable to find. I have installed the bumper and the factory switch along with the in-bumper fog light harness. This afternoon or next week I will try and use the method previously describe where you make your own short piece of harness and tie it into the grey box. And then have the dealer flash the truck so the switch works. Hopefully it works.

Let me know if you find a part number or any more info on that additional small piece of harness.

It appears they have changed it on the 2015.

On my 2013, the white connector I showed above has rubber 'plugs' in it on the back side of the foglight wires where they should continue on through the circuit. In other words, the wires come out of the dash and into that connector, where they terminate. There is not a connector on the back Side of these wires to just install. So, there isn't a simple connector plug in available. The big white connector has the wires on one side, and has nothing but rubber plugs to keep water out on the other Sid. The circuit ends in the white connector. Use a small pick or screw driver, disassemble the connector, and spice them into the foglight jumper....or find the correct pins and insert the pins in the other side of the white connector. This will allow continuity of the circuit through the weatherpack connector. Then soldr your foolish jumper wires (with a homemade extension) to the new pins, and you're good to go.

Again, none of this will work until the dealer installs the foglight Sales code on your truck. Tip: have the dealer install every sales code you want - the labor is the Same whether they do one or ten.

Pin #23 is white/yellow, left fog
Pin #24 is white/orange, right fog

As you can see in the pics below, there are four tabs on the black WiRing box. You can disengage them with your fingers and lift the box.

Once the black box is out of the way, find the white connector.

You will see one side has wires in socket #23 & 24, and the other side will have yellow weather protector plugs.

This is a 2013
