Test-Drove a 2013 RAM 3500 Crew Cab DRW w/AISIN & 3.73's

I got a phone call from the Sales Manager at Don Marshall Chrysler today informing me that the New Holland Blue and Omaha Orange RAM 3500's with AISIN (see my Poll thread) hit the lot Friday and were prepped and ready for sale. I got a wild hair and my wife, daughter and myself went to Don Marshall Chrysler in Somerset, KY Saturday evening and instead I drove this Bright Silver Metallic 3500 :

New 2013 Ram 3500 ST For Sale | Somerset KY | Stock: 50423

If you click on the link...then "View Window Sticker" you can get an idea of what kind of truck it is.

This truck was equipped with Parkview Backup Camera, and although it's on a smaller screen than some of the other audio systems, I must admit I was amazed at the clarity.

The power was good.....and the AISIN shifted great. The exhaust brake is a decent amount stronger than the one on my 2007.5 RAM 3500.

The A/C seemed to cool down fast and the controls were easy to understand. The EVIC supplies a lot of information and seems relatively easy to operate. The truck had cloth seats and rubber floor mats. I guess that will save one some money on purchasing Husky liners or Weathertechs....

I looked at the Omaha Orange 3500 and discovered it was not equipped with satellite radio. I also overlooked the fact that it had vinyl seats. They had a couple of other New Holland Blue 3500's on the lot....one was a 68RFE and I'm not sure what the other one was. I never looked at the other AISIN / New Holland Blue as the salesman said it was identically equipped as the Omaha Orange one. I get home this evening only to find out that it does have cloth seats, it does have carpeting, and it does have satellite radio..... I guess it was an honest mistake a salesman could have made given the fact there were about 3 New Holland Blues on the lot....

We arrived at about 5:15 pm and they were to close at 6:00 pm. I really didn't want to keep them beyond 6:00, but they insisted working up some numbers. In the meantime, I discovered they had this truck :

New 2013 Ram 3500 ST For Sale | Somerset KY | Stock: 50431

....identical in equipment to the Bright Silver I drove....only in True Blue PearlCoat.

The Omaha Orange and New Holland Blue trucks had these unsightly black "headlight filler panels" that looked hideous to me. The Bright Silver, True Blue, and a Gray G56 truck all had body colored "headlight filler panels". Can anyone explain why???? Supplier issues I suppose???

They worked up some figures....and I told'em I'd let them know something on Tuesday. I'll definitely go back and review the New Holland Blue one as well as ponder on the True Blue one. As I thanked them and I was getting ready to walk out the door, they asked me what would it take to trade today. They came back with a counter-offer and we were $442 apart on the True Blue truck. My wife said I should not have been a tight*a$$ and took the deal. I told the salesman and sales manager that I'd make a decision before the end of May...so my potential sale would be reflected on May's numbers. I also inquired about financing.....and he said 1.9% is available for 60 months to 72 months for some folks. When I asked about me, we decided to run my bureau and I found out my credit score was 831. He said there shouldn't be any problems.

If you see my MegaCab in the classifieds soon, don't be surprised....

All the "fleet color" trucks come like that. Given the low volumes I guess they don't want to commit to purchasing panels in matching colors.

They are not in the same order but I have those exact three numbers in my credit score. Crazy!
