Does anybody know if this option package comes with the standard tail gate? Saw a U-tube video and it showed a cut down tail gate when showing this package on the truck. Want to make sure I get the standard tail gate. I will need to change my order. Ram need to get there web site up and running. Thanks
I understand the B&W hitch, but the firestone bags have me puzzled..he's wanting to level the truck, (ie, lower the rear end to match the front end..or at least, that's the way I understood it, could be wrong I guess), Airbags level the load after you've put the pin weight into the bed of the truck and the pinweight causes the truck to "sag"...
I hooked up a 16,000# 5er to my 2010 and then 2012 3500 cc/LB dually's and neither "sagged" under the weight, brought the back end down some, but sure didn't need air bags to level the load. "Normally" if you have the right truck for the job, you shouldn't need airbags to keep the lights from pointing up in the air.......
My issue is that there is 0 clearance between top of truck's bedrails and bottom of 5er. Cant back up truck under trailer . Springs are already flipped on 5er. Probably will raise 5er.. .although leveling kit on truck may allow me to gain a few inches of clearance. HEFTY 4x4 wont sag i wouldnt think.

Something doesn't sound right...These trucks went from about 58.5" in height from ground to top of tailgate to 59" (why, I have NO clue)...but I have a Reese 20K signature hitch and it's as low as it can go in the bed and I've done nothing to my hitch pin on my HR and, with the 2012' Dually I was an inch or so nose high and had 6" of space between 5er and bed rails..
What 5er hitch do you have? If you're telling me axle has already been flipped on the 5er and you can't adjust your hitch or your king pin, something is wrong..I've not heard of not having ANY clearance at all unless someone had oversize tires on there truck and the 5er was running at normal height.
again, something just doesn't sound right about this. When you hook up the truck may drop an inch or two, but probably not much more than that.
Again, what 5er hitch do you have and what pinbox do you have on your Lakota, (which was/is also made by HR/Monaco)..
Have the curt 20k in 97 now. But have ordered an Andersen 5er to gn since i dont want adapt it and make new holes in 2013 bed. Will arrive on friday just in time. 5er is 11500 gvw.
Yeah, believe that's the route I'm going. That's what rangertx has in his. We've got the prep package in the bed's of our trucks and it would be the best way to go and keep the bed in tact. Are you going to use the Reese Elite drop in ball that ranchertx is using? I'd like to know how much bed rail height you end up with if you don't mind letting us know when you get set up....sure would appreciate it.
Yeah Jim keep us posted, I'm eager to see how your truck and the hitch work...How about getting me an idea of how much height you have from the bottom of your 5er to the top of the bed rail...It would be nice to have 6"....I'd really like to know...take care and be safe...
The Anderson hitch worked great today pulling my big Toy Hauler. It is very inexpensive option for people needing to pull a fifth wheel with a 2013 with factory prep package.
I negotiated a 20k fifth wheel hitch and a 2 5/16ths gooseneck ball into my deal when I bought my truck. My truck has the fifth wheel gooseneck prep package on it. I checked in with my dealer today to see what they had to say about my hitches and he said that in order to get the Mopar hitch and ball as I negotiated that Ram had to have your vin as proof you have the prep package on it before they will release the items (when they become available). Wondering if anyone else heard such a thing?
At the rate these items are going I will likely end up with the Reese Elite ball and the Anderson Ultimate so I can tow my trailers before the summer is over.
I am so glad you guys figured out a substitute to the mopar items.
I just ordered my '14 short bed with factory rails. I see a few people were planning to use the Anderson setup and others a standard fifth wheel hitch. Now that many of you have had a season of towing, do you have any advice on which setup to use?
Does anyone have a short bed with the Anderson setup? If so, any clearance issues?
I don't have pictures but this video might help. Just be careful to not get carried away rocking out to the music.
