OK I am going to call this one CONFIRMED, at least for the earliest 2013 trucks. Here is an SLT truck with the power sliding rear window under the standard features, and the rear defroster under the options:

2500 SLT window sticker

And here is the picture on their website of the truck sitting on their lot, from the back:

Woohoo!

Thats good to know. I can relax now about that now. However, I'm not thrilled to see the Firestones on it. Hope mine doesn't come with those.

What would really have confirmed it would be seeing the heating grid lines on the rear electric slider windows. The pic doesn't add any value to confirming the defroster, or am I just not seeing the defrost grids?

It's in Tinley Park, IL. Crummy pictures of a low-optioned SLT (doesn't even have the 8.4 display!).

2500 SLT

The window sticker confirms it has the rear defroster, which in years past would have meant a fixed piece of glass. The picture confirms it is still a slider, despite the defroster. How they actually do the defrost is anyone's guess (though I imagine going and looking at a 1500 with the defrosting power slider would tell us!)

That truck has an odd combination of full size console, with cloth seats, no 8.4 and no 7" evic.

I've seen the power slider with defrost on a 1500. They do have the defroster grids on all three pieces of glass and from what I could tell it was activated with the same botton as the mirror defrost.

Yeah, they clearly ordered what they could to get it there ASAP - the 8.4" options were not available at the beginning of production, nor were the diesels, so it's a Hemi with a teeny tiny radio. But they did option it up with bucket seats and cab lights and long side steps!

Anyone studied a 1500 closely enough to see how they get power to the center section grid wires? I hope it's something like a flexible wired connection, and not something like wiper contacts...

It looks like I win this bet as it's now confirmed that the 13' sliders have the defrost grids
as confirmed by fatee2K

Must be a bummer not having defrost in Florida.

On a side note, i live in Canada and never see the need for a defroster on a flat rear glass, many morning i have to defrost the windshield but never the rear window.

Putting together my truck order with a salesman last night, he couldn't figure it out from the ordering system (there was no mention of it on any trim level). He called the Ram hotline, and they didn't know. There's still an option code for "Rear Window Defroster" but they told him that is the same as in previous years: that will get you a solid piece of glass in back.

SO... is the power sliding rear window simply equipped with a defroster by default now? Or is it going to be late availability so it's not in the system yet? Or.... ? Anyone know?

Duncan
rear window defrost is optional on Laramie and power slider is standard... you get both if u order rwd
