Shudder At Take Off?

Recently, I've noticed a shudder when I first take off. It's more pronounced when the front wheels are slightly turned.

I had it in for service yesterday for this and they said they checked the drive shaft - nothing. They checked and changed all my differential fluids - nothing. The checked for tranny updates and found one - relearn update.

Drove away....tranny shifting is better but shudder at takeoff is still they same. Called dealer service and it's going back in next week. Taking shop supervisor with me for a test drive.

Makes me NUTS!!!

Also, one other issue. I notice when driving if I let off on the gas and coast and then get back on the throttle, I feel a "clunk" in the drivetrain. For lack of a better description, It's like the tranny hangs up and then catches up with throttle and feels like the clunk is somewhere driveshaft and back. Not sure if I'm explaining this properly.

I'm not hard on my truck and not in the habit of hammering it.
I've only towed my 5er about 20 times and not in the last year. I don't regularly tow heavy.
Truck only has 53,000 kms or 32,000 mi.
68 RFE
3:42 gears.

Any thoughts? Always appreciated!

They check carrier bearing? You could shim it some. I had horrible shudder after 8" lift, shimmed it three inches. Truck I have now only has leveling kit, I bought it like that, it's a 2014 and has shudder on take off. Not sure if it did before the level or not. I'll check the bearing one day and probably try shimming to see if it makes a difference.

My truck is all stock.

Curious why the shudder is more pronounced when the wheels are in a turn at takeoff. Slow takeoff on a turn even more pronounced. Maybe everything is under a greater load to move on a turn?

I have a feeling with the coil spring setup, the rear control arms are probably on the weak side for so much torque on take off. If the shudder is only at take off, 9 times out of 10, it's a binding issue. Shimming carrier bearing or better control arms may help.

Also the clunk I don't think is an issue. That can be replicated on alot of different vehicles.

Forgot to mention one piece drive shaft has also been known to solve the issue as well.

Shudder is the torque converter .the clunk is normal in a stock tuned truck ..
Try turning off traction control see if anything changes ..
Try using tow/haul see how it changes. .

I'll try turning off the traction control.

I've done tow haul on and off. No change.

Ah, gotcha. I'm on Tapatalk, can't see signature. I'm sure others will chip in. My best guess is two piece drive shaft if you have one. Even stock unworn carrier will have some shudder. Think some older models had tsb on in proper shimming. Not sure what years.

When you say take off, do you mean start driving or punch it to really take off? And the clunk part, that is normal, odd but normal.

Start driving normal. Not punching it. It's even more pronounced starting off slow with wheels turned in forward or reverse!

Since you have a Crew SHORT bed you dost likely do not have a carrier bearing and have a 1 piece driveshaft. If you have a carrier bearing they are notorious for take off shudder. When starting off turning with ANYTHING other than the MOPAR factory spec oil I would always get a shudder from the limited slip chattering It "could" also be front u-joint
