New DEF packaging at walmart...

Saw this today at wally world.

Note the date stamp marked by the arrow, 04/25/17.

I'm getting old, looked and looked while at the store and didn't see the date stamp until I was prepping the pic to post on here!

Interesting. Wonder how pure it is or how many contaminants it may have. Knowing Wally World, a large company made it and they put there sticky on it.

Smarty, mild trans, stuff

I'm sure it starts off just like any other DEF.

The issues I've had with any brand is leaking seals. You need to inspect the openings on the container, and look for crusty white residue. This is a sign that the mixture will be off.

I have noted this more of this issue with this brand. I'm going to guess they ditched the box to save waste and allow proper visual inspection for leaks.

It is API certified and I have been using it since day 1. No issues. And yes, Wal Mart surely does not produce it, probably bottled in the same place as most other DEF, just with a different jug and label.

This was on a pallet stacked about 5 high with plain cheap looking cardboard boxes, like you'd see from something shipped in from china.

The certification is posted right on the front label though.

IIRC, the price was $7.88 for the 2.5 gallon jug.

I'll just keep buying from the bulk pump, still least expensive and no jugs to fool with and I get the tank clear full.

Yes, the number is on it.

Absolutely no idea who produces it for walmart.

I doubt they would tell you if you asked.

And, like I stated, boxes look like cheap chinese, so it wouldn't surprise me if that is where it came from.

I don't buy this from them, only posted because it interested me that they changed packaging, most likely changed suppliers.

Walmart buys their product from a contract packaging company. That packaging company in turn buys the components from manufacturers. The jug (and box if they use it) come from a supplier and the DEF comes in bulk from a chemical manufacturer like where I work where it's actually made. Some places buy DEF in concentrate form and dilute it to spec at their facility and some buy it already on spec.

We've been using that exact SUPERTECH DEF from Walmart exclusively now for about 2 years. I always check the seal under the cap before buying and never had a single issue.

$7.48 for 2-1/2 gallons.

At least they are date stamping instead of using that annoying coding system.
