Only Took 3 Weeks to Order Alligator DPF Upgrade

Well, 3 weeks and 4 visits to dealership reminds me why I sold my 2008 for a 2006. This 2014 with 68k miles is throwing over $1k of codes for dpf/def sensors. Thanks to Holton at alligator performance, hopefully this EPA nightmare will end and maybe my 800lbs torque will feel more than my 600. Parts should be here in a week. I'll keep the thread updated as i get parts and start install. Intake, 4" tbe w/muffler, efi w/edge, valve and egr delete.

Having experience with 3 5.9s and now 2 6.7s; these exhaust components are a complete joke. And in my belief expected to fail after warranty. And it's not just Ram; the same is happening to buds with strokes and duramax engines. At least my ram hasn't left me on side of the road like the fords have. Hopefully no more dealership visits!

How many miles do you have that you no longer have epa parts warranty.

Sensors are 5yr/50k. Catalyst and Module, 8yr/80k. If EPA is making these mandatory, they need to be life time. Complete BS in my opinion.

He said^^^^^^ 68k miles

The kicker is that the electronic components that are part of your exhaust are NOT covered under that extended warranty. EPA does need to require longer warranties for both the electronics AND the hardware so that the customer isn't the test mule for this stuff. If they want folks to stop deleting this would go a long way at preventing it.

I wonder if all the smog repairs on these trucks, even though done at the dealer, will show up on a CARFAX report,,,,LOL. Somehow I think not, especially if being sold by a dealer.

I had s87 recall last week. They said I already had latest ecm flash. I'm guessing dealerships are clearing and flashing ecm long enough to sell truck.

And not one reset showed on auto check. Just fuel system maintenance every 5k with oil change.

I'm sure glad I ordered my 5.9 with a few weeks left on the clock before the 6.7's came in.
I do wish I'd gotten a qclb though at times.
A guy up the street has an ST '03 HO 5.9 with a NV5600. 80K on it.
Now if would just sell it to me.

Costs for longer emissions parts warranty will just get passed onto the consumer. Think you won't be paying for it? Think again.

Here's what I'm saying. You want the truck to have emissions stuff on it. Fine, I'll live with it if I have to. But be fair about the warranty. If it's a federal mandate that the vehicles come equipped with it, then make it a federal mandate that they are covered under warranty for the life of the vehicle.
Then the other side of me says mufflers are required on gas cars and they aren't warrantied. There's other federally mandated safety things that aren't forever warranties. I dunno what to think. Haha
