2016 2500 Heavy Duty - Death Wobble @11.5K miles! Anyone else?

I'm normally a reader not poster..... but today has me pretty steamed!

I have a 2016 Tradesman 2500 Heavy Duty CCLB with a 6spd manual. Under 11,500mi on the clock. Bone stock! Got the death wobble twice today while on the interstate. I know it's been an issue in the past, but on a 2016? Anyone else have this issue on a '16 or '17? If so what did your dealer do about it? I've heard horror stories from the '14's down when dealing with warranty.

My truck is adult driven, not abused, and tows 10k and under very occasionally. Not an off roader either. All maint to date has been done at the dealer. It's going to the dealer Monday..... Really didn't think I'd be looking at issues this soon.... whew.

I'm familiar with death wobble and it's causes, fixed it on a few older trucks but at under 12k miles? What the heck am I in for?

Did you check the steering rod nuts? Multiple threads about those being loose...

The truck is 100% stock, HD model with the tow prep group and the snow chief group. Factory tires/wheels, rotated during service by the dealership.

The only nuts I checked were mine when the bastard started bouncing and threw my beverage out of the cup holder..... If the truck didn't cost so much I'd be more inclined to like the excitement!

The Stealership can check the nuts Monday when it goes in..... thanks for the tip on that.

What was the cause and fix on your prior truck? I have 17k on my 2016 without DW and I never had it on my 2011 either, although many did. Now I've had some major vibrations from tire issues but never what I'd consider DW since the vibration was never in the steering wheel, always felt in the seat.

My 2003 2500 never had that issue. My old 1988 F-350 did, and Bushings in the track bar cured it. Have helped a few friends with high mileage trucks and it was either bushings, or worn bolt holes.

Mine shook so bad today the steering wheel made a rodeo bull look lame.

Maybe they had a sissy on the line tightening track bar bolts.

Some have mentioned the loose nuts of the drag link but I don't see how this causes DW. A steering wheel out of whack but not DW. Bolts, bolt holes or bushings certainly make more sense.

I had the same wobble at 38,000 miles going over joints in an over pass. I had the truck checked out nothing unusual was found. Something in the road triggered the wobble , very scarey stuff at 70mph.

It's my understanding that the radius arm trucks are far less prone to DW, to the point of it being a non-issue. I did experience it a couple of times on my '94, but the track bar was toast. Let us know what they find, if anything.

The only way I'd do a 26x16 is with a 12 inch wide tire and a Carolina squat. I'd be swimming in kitty.
