The Truck is down: transmission

This past Tuesday the truck went down.....pulled up to a job towing the trailer ....total weight about 4200 lbs......got out of the truck left it running to cool the turbo for about 2 minutes....When I got back into the truck went to take off and there was slack ....then a thump. The next think I see is a check engine light.....drove several blocks and the the went into limp mode....It's at the dealership and I might hears more on Tuesday.....but the service adv....did call to let me know it was a transmission issue. it's a 2016 Laramie with about 54,000 it stock .....I sure did not see this happening....will keep yall posted

When my 68rfe went out on my 14 the first time i got no check engine light. I always thought i would get a light if it was slipping enough. Torque converter, clutches, and valve body went in. The second time it went out i got a light. Hope your issue is more simple than that. Good luck.

I had the VB crack and fail in my 68. It was no biggie, other than a bit of delay getting the part. And the idiot service guys not re flashing after the repair. It's been better than new once I had the reflash done.

But 7 other guys all made it 91k miles without failure so you probably abused it. (Sarcasm)

Sorry for the luck man, hope it gets covered quick.

I had a loud bang that shook the whole truck on the second failure right before the CEL. It was just cruising at about 30 mph right after the first rebuild. There was no problem with Ram covering everything. You may get lucky and just need a solenoid or valve body or such. If they pull the transmission keep an eye on the rear main seal. Mine started leaking after the first repair. It could have just been coincidence. What upset me about the dealer at the time is i went back to the bay to grab my guns, cash, and tools from the truck. There i found all the removed parts on the floor including the transfer case buried in cat litter type absorbent. To this day i wonder if that transfer case had gotten the absorbent in it. I traded the truck a couple days later for my current 15 due to my own lack of patience and confidence.
