Yeah simply put, sure, makes sense. I ain't super knowledgable in the truck mod department but it seems like if you fill up the wheel well with a giant tire, it'll still drive in a straight line but affect its drivability way too much unless changing a bunch of other stuff. I'm sure it wouldn't matter on a truck like this since I'm assuming it's more for show than function. Like there's more than meets the eye to maintain full suspension travel and turning radius - trimming, moving the axle, offset wheels, blah blah?

Right, several reputable companies offer full suspension kits and none of them have 40's on what is basically a leveling kit.
Assuming that the suspension articulates fine and the geometries are good, I think it looks out of proportion. Most running 40's are going at least 6" - 8" of lift which look right IMO.
But if this truck is built like any of Gas Monkey's other cringe-worthy "creations" I'd say no thanks.
Mustang 03 nailed it. Up until now I thought I was he only one on the planet that notices how this shop is famous for literally half ghetto rigging EVERYTHING that rolls through.
those are pretty low profile 40's! The wheels must be huge! You can see where they had to trim the front flare to get the doors open so they cut the openings waaay back and probably removed or bashed in the kick panels and bumper to clear. I think it looks good, and that is the way it should be done, even a lifted truck should be able to stuff the tires at full compression, not the way most people do it.With a big lift and suspension so stiff so the tires don't hit any body panels when you hit a bump. Frankly it's done way better than most people do theirs, waaay better.
Well let's be realistic. His builds aren't not 100% followed, parts that make good tv are shown to for me to say his builds are shortly would be jumping to conclusions. I watch shows like Fantom auto works or kindigit for some legitimate high quality builds. I think gas monkey does some nice stuff, but i don't watch it for the quality fondue build as much as i do for entertainment, much like diesel brothers. I like tv to relax after work, I like trucks and cars, I like light hearted shows so they work for me. Speaking of shows, does anyone know how shotty the cars were that chip foose and his show where they steal the cars to rebuild them were. I saw lots and lots of posts of unhappy owners.

Yeah, man I'd be bummed if someone took my manky rusted out piece of crap car, and threw about $75k worth of parts and labor at it. Not saying some of the builds don't have the odd issue, but given what they have to work with, and the fact that it's is done for free, I think I'd be happy!
Kodi, you "get it" when you mention the whole "it's a TV show!!" thing. I got to shake my head at people some times. I worked with Bear Grylls on his show and people criticize him for having a camera crew along. Well, ummm, you kind of need that stuff to make a TV show! And yes, we do actually scout the locations and have a plan ahead of time. It doesn't make for very entertaining TV to just wander aimlessly through a random environment and hoping that something exciting is going to happen! I've seen Bear do some crazy stuff that takes SERIOUS balls. He's a really low key guy who laughs at himself now and then too.
Build anything, be it a junkyard build or a multi-million dollar build, someone somewhere will throw a hissy fit over it; and others will love it.
It may not be what any one of us would build, but I'll bet it works for the builder, and suits their needs and what they built it for.
Im not a huge fan of the rubber band tires, or that style of wheel, but personally I like the Big tire no/little lift look. I dont think filling the wheel well looks out of place at all, honestly with 8" of lift there would be so much open wheel well, it would look stupid...IMO of course...
Not aev flares. Look like bushwhacker - preview of lower cost cut out to fit flares like they have for ford?! That would be cool.
Don't knock a ram on 40" with a 2.5-3" lift until you see it. It's awesome. Prepositional. And functional (basically gives you approach, departure, break over of a stock jeep rubicon, while maintaining tow capacity depending on lift). 17" rims + 40" or 41" + 2.5" = pretty awesome first hand. It would be easy for the uninformed to not give it a second glance.
Looks pretty beast, I'm more of a fan of little lift and big tires as long as it's still capable offroad vs 6-8" lift running 35's looks goofy on a lot f trucks, IMO, hence why I'm running 37's on my leveled 2500. It would just be hard to cut the fenders on a brand new truck for those flares, no turning back then!
Looks kinda cool. But l'm not a fan of the really low profile tires and wheels. Don't care for all black wheels either.
Everybody cracking on Gas Monkey's build quality should remember that their reason for being is for an entertaining TV show, not a high end build shop. And while Richard is a clown, he's made a pocket full of money from the show.
I could build a truck the way i want to with the needs I have in mind and 33.34652% of the people on here would complain I screwed up a good truck, others would say it's not a Carli or thuren or pure performance suspension so it's trash, some would be neutral and only a handful would say nice truck. It's all in what you want
