SO I currenty drive a 2006 F250 6.uh-oh! It actually been good to me after Bulletproofing. Couple buddies have switch to RAM and I was thinking about doing the same. Never owned one so I know nothing about them. Any needs to knows?? I Have 30ft Weekend warrior Superlight 5th wheel and a 21' Open bow boat. Just looking for reliability
I switched from a 7.3 truck, ran great was just 16 years old. Been driving fords all my life.......
Didn't want to afford the Fird truck I wanted. Tradesman has everything I wanted on a truck. I towed a 26ft TT, 18ft car hauler and 21ft ski boat. It pulls all those like nothing is back there. Gets solid fuel mileage and of course its badass green!!
I came from a 6.7 powerstroke. I traded that for a f150 and regretted it 3 months later. Ford was more expensive so i went with ram. At first i really missed the powerstroke. But after 2 months with the ram cummins, i really like it. It seems to do anything i want it to do, and asks for more
Same boat here. Wanted a powerstroke, couldn't justify paying several grand more to get one optioned like the ram. Only have about 800 miles so far but I love it. No Ragrets, not even a single letter... Lol
Plus one more here that wanted the ford, I couldn't justify the price and the monthly payment. I ended up get a 14 used tradesman last year with around 17k on the mileage clock. I am happy with the truck. I really wanted leather, which I could upgrade to Katskinz and I just preferred some of the laramie options. Tradesman is a great truck and mine still has most of the bells and whistles I wanted. Overall I am happy with my cummins.
Had the 99 SD 7.3, traded in on a 03 Duramax. Duramax had problems so I traded that in on an 05 5.9 Cummins. The 05 was just traded in on my 16 6.7 Crew Cab long box 6 speed manual Ram. Went to Ram in 05 and won't go back to other brands.
Just traded my 2007 F250 6.0 for a slightly used 2015 SLT with 9500 miles on it 2 weeks ago, my first non Ford truck. I was in the same boat, my 6 leaker was good after I bullet proofed but with over 200k on the mileage and almost 10 years old I just didn't want to keep putting money into it. I couldn't find another F250 diesel in my price range with everything I wanted. So far so good with the Ram, nice ride and love the smooth power of the Cummins.
Thank guys. Its hard to switch being a Ford Guy too! Im working a deal on a 2016. Got the Price to $40,520 + TTL. Tradesman with the Bluetooth 5" Screen. Is that a good deal? Curious if i should hold out until the 17's are on the lot.
That sounds like a good price, but after having my truck with the rear park sense and back up camera for 3 months I wouldn't want to do without it. What part of the country are you in?
I don't know how quick you want one. I ordered mine from Dennis Dillon in Idaho. Paid 22% less than MSRP. Would probably be close to a 1000 mile drive home for you. If you are planning on towing heavy trailers or a lot of weight in the bed I would order one with the rear self-leveling air suspension. Not cheap but I think the best option I paid for.
I was always a Ford guy myself and the 6.0 is what finally pushed me over to a Dodge. I absolutely love it. The thing I don't understand is how y'all are finding Fords at higher prices than comparable Dodges. I looked high and low and it was twice as hard to find a Dodge with a reasonable price.

Used, ram cummins seems to hold value better. I bought new and comparable ford powerstroke was a good 5,000 higher. For now, more options are available with ram. With 2017, looks like that will change, and a higher ford price!!
Does anyone have any leads on quality high volume dealers that can price aggressively? I don't mind flying to purchase a truck. Current location is Georgia.
Contact @Indytruckchampion. He sells with aggressive pricing like the big dealers, great guy to deal with. He sells at 1k under invoice and you still get rebates and all. He sells tons of trucks on this forum and has great repport on this site.
I'm totally new to this forum (1st post), but I have owned 4 Dodge/Ram with Cummins since 1992, grew up on a farm in Iowa, now 47 years old with wife, dogs, cat, and only one kid left at home.
No vehicle is perfect, but you've made a good choice. Out of those 4 trucks, I've have had very little/minor issues and each went 200K+ miles. I currently own a 2015 (build date is late 2014) 2500 6.7 crew cab, long box, Tradesman model including several upgrade options with 25K miles. I've had a total of 5 trips to the dealer for minor software updates, one leaky cab tail light, and a support bracket addition for the front suspension. I'm stock with no mods. I also have a 26' 5th wheel Keystone and 21' SeaRay bow rider that I occasionally double-pull.
The longest single trip so far with my 2015 model is 3,500 miles with the camper to southwest US. These are not the fastest trucks on the market but they are damn reliable. As you probably already know, the weakest link in the chain is the transmission. Keep with mild mods, do your regular maintenance, and you'll be fine as I was with all my prior trucks and never had any problems with the auto-gearboxes. Depending on elevation (I live at 4000'), wind (South Dakota) and speed (65-75) I average 12-13.5 mpg pulling my camper. Best of luck to you and enjoy!
If you're really interested today I bought a new leftover 2015 from Courtesy Ram in Breaux Bridge, LA. It's a Tradesman package crew 4x4. They have 2 more white ones with vinyl and no chrome and 2 with chrome, popular equipment group, etc. One is black and one is cherry red. They have some super aggressive pricing on them. I financed 40k plus TTL even with about 8000 in negative equity from my trade in. Sticker price was 51300.
I jumped ship on Ford last week. Traded in a 15' F250 CC Lariat for a 16' 3500 DRW Laramie. Drove fords my entire life, not biased just always preferred them. Upgraded to a bigger trailer and just wanted more stability, struggled between a Ram & Ford both spec'd out the way I wanted the Ram was $250 more than a 16' F350 DRW. Loved everything about my F250 & the new updates to the 6.7 scorpion it is a power house, pulls like a freight train, & I think will be a very long living engine. But the Ram just seemed like the right choice this time. The Ram DRW looks 10x better to me also!
Good luck with your choice!
