As a few of y'all know I'm upgrading my 14' 2500 BAP Big Horn to a '16 3500 DRW Flame Red tradesman. I ordered from @Indytruckchampion and he was the best to work with.
I will use this thread to post pictures, build status updates, upgrades I do to the truck, answer questions someone may have and have some fun along the way :grin2:.
I wanted a fleet color however I waited too late to be able to order one, so I decided to go with flame red.
Here are the options I ordered
Some were curious to why I ordered electronic transfer case, the main reason is so that someone can sit in the middle seat and not have their legs in the passenger foot well.
My list of things I will add over time
91 gal aux fuel tank/toolbox combo
Headache rack/ cab protector
Linex premium bedliner or a Dee Zee bed mat
Upgraded EVIC (either Laramie or limited)
8.4 radio
CB radio
And a few other things
My next post will contain my build progress that I will edit when I receive something new.
Sorry I don't have all details due to SPP being away due to a newborn.

I think, after Chris' truck gets in, that we should have a "grudge match" and see if there's a significant difference in regards to the 4.10's and that extra 50 lb-ft
Great thread. Will be paying close attention. Order almost the same truck. Should be here fist of May. Difference is color, ordered WHITE. No ETC. Got the manual shift 4x4. Liked the floor console that comes with it. Other than that, the build sheet looks identical.
A pump and a shutoff solenoid tied into one of my aux switches and set it as a momentary switch and see how that does. I'm trying to figure out a way to monitor gallons left in the aux tank. I tested the gallons used in the EVIC and it's not accurate at all, it's off by at least 4 gallons.
Cool to see you getting a new truck Chris! You going to make it the cousin cab version of JBs? You must want the 37s and a hitch with no ball on it to pull your ghost trailers around!
Your right it will take a lot of room and its a lot of weight I hardly use my bed now that I have my fifth wheel hitch back there, heck I barely used it before then :grin2:.
The only reason for adding it is during hauling jobs to keep from having to fill up at truck stops, since I cant use the sat pump for my aux tank. Plus I live near the SC state line so I can get fuel at a great price.
yea with the tank and hitch all i have left if the space after the hitch to the tail gate. there some space between hitch and tank/toolbox but not much to really use. I got it as well for when i was towing my 5th wheel alot. i hated trying to find a place in time that was some truck stop. i filled up the big tank and off i went made it to parks, went out and top everything off and then next day hit the road again.
Pretty much why i am looking for a 40 gallon one as i just really need is one more tank worth of fuel as i only drive maybe 6-7 hours and call it quits while i am towing so i can find a nice park to stay in and set up. The big tank i have i got from amazon for like 600 bucks so it was worth it for the price, the pump ran me 200.
Greg I checked my build sheet with VON vs the first one I sent to you. The von sheet doesn't charge for clearance lamps but does charge $100 for the 4:10 rear axle so my MSRP price dropped $30.
Chris, on an "aside"...The extra 50 ft lb of TQ, and the Aisin/4.10 combo will amaze you with it's towing ability in the mountains:thumbs:...been there, done that, now sell the T-Shirts :grin2:, (towed 7% grades in VA and WV fairly easily)
Thanks Jim I'm excited to try this truck out and put it to work. What route do you take to the campsite? I took I-64 (I think) before I got the highway 35 (I think) on my way from mooresville NC, to Pendleton IN.
Nothing new on the progress on the truck, but while I was getting a game plan together of what I'm taking off the black truck and when, I got to thinking about step bars. Most likely I'm not going to keep my black ones so I started looking at wheel to wheel mopar/amp steps. Using photos from fordmotorsports and el pato I'm thinking about getting a set for a SB truck I think that will give me the bed step I want, without looking weird.
Can I line-x a chrome step bar, if so what do I have to do to prep it?
If weather is good tomorrow I will try making a template out of cheap cardboard and paper to the size of the aux tank to see if I can reach the latches from the side step. If photobucket starts working again I will post pictures.
I'm sure everyone wants to see my southern ingenuity lol.

As a suggestion....it might not hurt to get with FMS or el pato and get the measurement from the rear most riv-nut to the end of the step bar. The DRW bed starts getting wider fairly soon after the front of the bed.
When daylight comes around I will check some measurements. As far as linex I believe you would have to blast them. Mine were blasted and powdercoated, seem like they will stand the test of time.
This tank is similar to the one I'm looking at, I'm posting it because it shows it installed on a ram LB truck. This already has a 8pgm pump installed but for $1,400 I can get the $900 tank and pump for $230 and come out a little cheaper, unless the box I'm looking at doesn't have the threaded part to mount a pump.
I noticed on this box there is something to the right of the fuel cap, I'm thinking that's the sight glass for fuel level. I would think I could place an electric level sender here and monitor it with my insight.
Thanks for that info I will have to get some blocks to stand on and see how that looks, they might work. I used both 18" and 24" measurements earlier today as a guess (difference of LB vs SB beds) and looks like the real measurement was very close.
I'm not sure if this video has been posted or not but I found it to be helpful.
The momentary switch works different than I thought it did. I was thinking it could be set for a certain time then cut off. So it looks like I will have to come up with a different idea for the aux tank, I might do gravity feed with electronic solenoid to allow flow.
I have been checking Ramforumz but SPP is still away so I don't know if my truck was built yesterday or not, I don't have any emails from ram so I have no idea what's going on. Guess I will know something when ken calls me after its in lol.
Holy cow Chris, I didn't know you were getting a new truck. I guess I was under the impression you were looking to build your BAP a bit...
Any way, congrats man. Look forward to some pics. That's almost the exact same truck I want to get, except the vinyl and Chrome Appearance. Aisin/4.10 FTW! Just about the best tow beast on the market.
I have cab length steps on my truck. My friend has a dually, most likely I will put my steps on his truck and get wheel to wheel steps for the new one. I looked at his truck last night and I really think they will work very well.
It's kinda funny how well I have adjusted to the tone of the cummins, yesterday as we were going to a local track in his dually with race trailer. I was in back seat could not see the gauges and heard what sounded like the truck was in 6th, after I asked he confirmed it was in 6th as he forgot to lock it out.
I'm curious to how much better/worse my dually would do pulling that trailer, but I know I would have to take tailgate off mine due to very little clearance between bed and trailer when entering/exiting track on his truck (2wd). I could also test the "Transport mode" of the air suspension to see if it will lower with that much of a load on it for more clearance.
This is his combo
You can see the trailer is level but truck isn't, last night I looked as we were leaving and I don't think we had 1/4 clearance between the tailgate. I think putting a 5th wheel in his truck will help but I'm not sure.
