Do any of y'all remember the good ole days when a thread would ask or talk about deletes and get it shut down because they were advertising tampering with federally mandated emission equipment? These were the 07-08 days when everything was still relatively new.
I miss the simpler times and find it funny to see a new member who joins with their brand new diesel truck with the sig that says "stock" then becomes "stock, not much longer, then "omg the wait is killing me" finally going to whatever their h&s or smarty package deal was.
To all new members, deletes are not the end all be all. If you have more money than you know what to do with and don't mind spending 10k when you grenade your motor than get on it. The tuners might not be to blame but dodge shouldn't foot the bill. There are thousands of trucks running all over the country that are 100% stock and don't have any issues.
To those that say they delete to keep it reliable because they work it hard or are going to keep it forever I guess we will see. Seems more times than not alot of these types keep it until something new comes out and trades out when it's still a couple years old.
I wish there was a sub forum for those that wish to retain our warranty and don't wish to read and see about all the delete cheerleaders.
You bring up a good point about the delete guys. The thing I've grown the most tired of is reading the posts that come off as though "delete" is the answer to all of mankinds problems. If a guy starts a thread that's titled "my horn quit going honk honk" he'll likely get a most helpful reply that says "DELETE!!! That will make your horn honk".
A Delete subforum would be great, but I wouldn't count on it.

I love the horn example. You are right, sometimes all you see is "delete it" for a reply!
We could start by "DELETING" your post LOL, but why do you care? Can't everyone have an opinion?
YOU ARE ON THE INTERNETS NOW, half the information here(not just this site) can be taken with a grain of salt, most information is just opinion based anyways, sorta like your post, oh and now mine. Touche

The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to drosa For This Useful Post:
you could buy a diesel pickup that would give you 20 mpg on the highway, the ability to idle all day on the job, reliable service that didn't require regular trips to the dealer for update flashes, turbo cleaning, replacement, EGR system servicing, constant CEL's and lightning bolts with limp mode, service depts dumb looks or answer on how to keep it from happening "drive it like you stole it".
I was around here in '07 and '08. I don't remember any "delete" posts getting deleted. But I do remember quite a few unhappy 6.7 owners trying to solve these problems. I was one of them.
I'm glad that you guys are happy with your stock trucks. But, I'm not taking the chance on mine.

I've had diesels for greater than 10 years. I've seen the creation of the mainstream diesel performance industry. If anyone visits this site or joins to learn about their truck, the immediately get bombarded by the pro-delete movement and I feel they get the impression that if they want their truck to last, they have to delete it. Often times its presented in a way that it is the only way to have a reliable truck and since they don't have much knowledge on the matter they drink the Kool-aid then due to unforeseen circumstances end up damaging the truck and are left holding the bag. It could be a manufactures defect in the truck but since it was deleted so early on the warranty is gone!
A stock truck can be reliable and deliver decen mileage too!

Yes I do, different times though...much simpler too
While those trucks were bullet proof they were also gutless by today's standards. I would love a 5.9 with 6.7 power and features in my truck from ram but it's not happening. I know there are a bunch of smart people on these forums but ram has some decent engineers working there too. They don't get their rocks off loading these trucks down with the emission equipment but have to follow the Fed requirements that the hippies and tree huggers push. Again, I don't like it but it's the way it is.
