I would soak a rag with break parts cleaner and wipe the inlet area off. Unless your talking about cleaning the exterior of the turbo?? Removing the Silencer ring will not hurt the motor/Turbo, it will not make more boost so no performance gains. You will be able to hear your turbo sing loud and clear.

This bothers me. It's a cummins not a cummings. Hopefully your wanting to clean the outside. The inside should of never got dirty.

Your thinking of a 6.7, which has a turbo cleaning procedure.

Unless it had an oiled filter and the inside got coated. Then what would the cleaning procedure be?
