Heavy loads w/ 2500 diesel 6.7

I've upgraded to a larger toyhauler, (much larger) and have a question for the gear heads rather than the retired w/ a trailer crowd. I've always been amazed that it's just fine with folks if you build a 900 h.p diesel 2500, but if you speak of tricking out a 2500 to handle some heavy duty **** like towing a heavy load all these guys start quoting dodge safety specs. Basically I 'm wondering what the drivetrain differences are between a non-dually 2500 and a non-dually 3500 cummins 08 model. Are the 6-speed transmissions the same? What about final drive ratios? Please avoid the doom and gloom, as I have an excellent braking system on this new fifth wheel and just would like some advice about what I
can do to help this truck survive a 14000 lb fifth wheel.

Thanks and yes, I know this isnt the trailer section, but I'm looking for tech advice related to this model truck.
