I just want to clear up a few things about hybrid Dana 80 axles. All Dana 80 axles used in second generation Dodges (diesels and v-10's) are hybrids including the 3500's. They uses a Dana 80 carrier and a 1.5 inch 35 spline axle shaft. The Dana 70U that is used in 2500 automatics are 1.41 inch 32 spline axles. The only differences from the Dana 80 hybrid used on some 2500's(manual transmissions and camper packages) and the Dana 80 hybrid used on 3500's are the outer wheel spindle, hub and brake assemblies to accommodate the duallies. The 3500 axle is also approximately 4 inches longer.
I'm not sure why there has been so much misinformation about 2nd gen axles.
