That's pretty broad. It really depends on what your main concerns, goals, etc. are. If you want fuel mileage
and power without modding it. Do a 01-02 HO. If you want something to mod, without putting much money into it get a 12valve. If you want something to mod balls out, 2002. If you want something that sounds good, do a 24 valve standard output. If you want to challenge yourself and buy something hard to find, do a 98 12 valve. Or better yet try and find a 2500 with a full Dana 80. If you want something you are going to off road, 94-97. I really could go on, but let's hear what you intend to do.
