cracked injector

I am making oil, it appears that I have a cracked injector questions:

1. how can you identify which injector is bad?

2. replacing the tips, will that fix or do you need a complete injector?

Thanks Paul

Does the truck idle fine? Loose connector tubes can at times cause you to make oil. Does it ever hard start?

To identify what injector is bad, the best way would be to do an injector contribution test with a scan tool, but not all would have access to that tool. Capping one injector line at a time would be another route to check things, if you did have a hard start.

If you've damaged one, it might as well be a good idea to check the others as well.

And as far as just replacing tips, it depends where the nozzle failed. If it failed on the tip, then most likely just swapping a tip would fix that. But if it failed on the high pressure face, I've seen them have a water jet effect there and take out the body as well.

it idels rough when cold and then smooths out, no starting problems. It started after a batch of dirty fuel, I changed filter 2x times after it clogged up

Thanks

if you got a bad batch of fuel it is likely there was damaged done to all of the injectors (and possibly the injection pump although that will take much longer to manifest) I'd say that it isn't a cracked injector, rather one that is hanging due to rust or debris.

I'd have them all checked out at your local injection shop if you have one.
