Question on disconnecting the sensor plug-in connectorss

on a new 2012. They are black, and have two tiny red tabs that do not seem to push in to release the locking mechanism. I have tried pliers, but they seem to be fixed. How do you separate these little electrical connectors? I hate to cut the sensor wires, as I may want to someday, when I trade in, to install this EPA crapola again.

you don't push them both in.... you slide it to the right I believe... It is one singular piece of plastic. If you've tried to push them in you've likely damaged them especially if pliers were involved.

What one are you trying to unplug?

Step one, look at connector.

Step two, slide red connector.

Step three, push lock mechanism.

Step four, pull apart.

Thank you very, very much for the excellent write up and picts on this procedure to uncouple the electrical connectors. I had never seen anything like these critters, and I succeeded in getting my knife blade underneath the thumb releasing bar (I thought it had to be raised) and prying up, breaking it. But, I can still slide the tiny red slider to the side, so partially released.

I would like to see your pictures put someplace where all newbees can see how to operate these tiny electrical locks.

God Bless you Shibbyutman!
Mark
