Explain why so many H&S tuning files and how they work...

I am curious why there are so many different files. You have the standard update file, hot dam turbo tuning, hot dam no turbo tuning, mild turbo tuning, and mild no turbo tuning. Why not one file to access everything? LOL

How does all this work? If I load the mild turbo tuning, then do I still have access to drop the power level back down to stock at the push of a button or do I have to load the original update again? If I load the hot dam turbo tuning, do I not have the option of mild turbo tuning without reloading the mild tuning file? If the turbo tuning files are loaded, does that give all the tunes from stock to hot the turbo tuning or is it just on the specified mode? And for the OD software, does it require a firmware update or does it just simply unlock access to the files already stored?

I will be installing the black maxx and 5" flo pro wed. when I get back and I just want to be ahead of the game before I get started. I want the sd card loaded and the tuner ready to go.

82 views and no responses. I guess I will have to call H&S and get them to explain it. At this point, I will probably just run the Mild with no turbo tuning until I get the head studs. I don't have a way to monitor drive pressure and definately don't want to take that vgt too far out of it's range.

Those files are used as inputs for the programmer, who is to say what the developer was thinking in creating separate files maybe more compatibility making them more plug and play across vehicle platforms, I am sure these are not written to you truck as is but rather build in memory and written to you vehicle.

The turbo tuning affects all the different levels of the tuning. Like if you load up the aggressive turbo tuning it will be aggressive on the 175 120 and 60 horse tunes. The Hot damn only changes the 175 tune. You can't load up the mild turbo tuning and with the push of a button go to aggressive turbo tuning. You will have to download each one as you want them, no switching back and forth with the push of a button. Understand? I kinda confused myself

one file can't access everything... that's why there are so many files. files take up space, and there's only so much space to work with

Can you guys explain the difference in the mild vs hot damn and turbo tuning vs no turbo tuning. I am on the H&S site right now as I am expecting my mini maxx this week but I don't see an actual explanation of what the different tunes will do.

ones with turbo tuning fill build boost a little faster and a little harder, mild has less fuel and hot damn has more fuel. if your on stock pump and stock cps then the only thing you will see is more smoke. This is just what I have noticed on mine.

Thanks for the responses guys. Thats the info I wanted. I wasn't sure if the tuning changes effected everything or just that particular setting.

So how many are running the turbo tuning on stock head bolts? I will probably run the mild tune and switch down to the 60hp for towing, just curious to how hard the aggressive tubo tuning is on the head gaskets. It's gotta be producing more drive pressure.

Does anyone know which map uses timing and little to no fuel changes?

One more thing, if you download the mild tuning does it change anything on the hot setting? If the hot dam only changes the 175 tune, then the mild must only change the 120 tune. Right?

What is the difference between the hot dam and the mild? If they effect all the tunes with their changes, then is it just the simple fact that one is more aggressive timing and one has more aggressive fueling?

Sorry for all the questions, but these are the answers that will determine which tuning is best for me.

Stupid dealer mechanics...should have never let them check the tcase out the first time and it would still be good!! That's what I get for being paranoid.

After driving Brenna's lil dodge with the 4.7....no way I can go back to a gas! Just not the same anymore. She said she is going to start punishing me by making me drive her truck when I do wrong! Lol, negative

HAHA, I could have loaned you little whitey!!! At least then you could have been pimpin in luxury and have power to spare! Kenny used it this weekend to haul his fourwheeler to mud creek, I hope he didn't push the magic button. LOL
