2nd gen manifold and turbo

I've got sum questions about swapping my 08 over to a 2nd gen manifold and diff turbo. I hear a lot of you all talking about it and I'm curious as to what all it requires to do the swap. What manifold do u all recommend? What charger? I'm not looking to make big numbers just want a lil more than stock and have more turbo options. I've already got a 12v w twins for a toy and this 08 is my all around truck. Only looking for 40 to 50lbs of boost don't want to blow a head gasket or have to stud and open up a can of worms(nozzles cp3 bigger tuner ect). Also what about the down pipe what have any of u all used and how does it work out? What charger would you all recommend? Like I said I'm not looking to spend 2 grand on a big single just a good reliable easy to spool charger in the 50lbs of boost range? Any other mods needed to keep the cel off? Thanks guys

Steed speed mani, s466/83, fleece kit for turbo, coolant plugs, downpipe. Personally for your app i think a 3rd gen swap would be just fine cause you can keep your current intake,dp, ect

What did you have to do far as your intake tube and boost elbow? Nothing a lil pipe and tig welding couldn't fix is it? And when u mentioned the fleece kit for the turbo what all does that consist of?

Fleece makes a nearly complete swap kit that includes a custom 5" intake and custom CAC tube. I like mine a lot, and it makes it look pretty cool under the hood

it already is a 3rd gen, so you're done with the swap

That's it? So the intercooler tubes and intake will work with SB66?

CAC tube (intercooler tube) and intake are the same for the 3rd gen swap my friend. Anyone else, feel free to chime in. The turbo is located in the same spot as your stock setup. The SB66 now comes with a machined exhaust elbow so it is a direct bolt up if im not mistaken. Thus leaving on;y the exhaust mani and coolant plugs as neccessary items for a 3rd gen swap. @nd gen is where you have to get the custom intake and CAC.

Well, looks like I found my next project...What's a good maifold to get? and are the coolant plugs something I can come up with at the hardware, or are they "special"?

If I'm not mistaken everything should work on my C&C, the exhaust only has a different bend in it compared to the pickup, but still has the same mounting position to the turbo?

And should I need head studs?

I made my coolant plugs for my swap. They are a fine thread M16 bolt. I cut them down to 1/2" (approx) and found two O rings to fit. Both of which you can get at a hardware store. As for the mani, I don't know what the popular 3rd gen one is. I have a steed speed 2nd gen mani. I think a lot of people are running the PDI 3rd gen mani. I would definately run headstuds, at least the 425s
