Alright, so I got everything cleared up here with the install. Had a small boost leak but Chris at E.D. got me fixed up with some overnight parts. Now for impressions:
It drives pretty well. Spool-up is not quite like stock and is a tad laggy. I don't drive with my foot in it all the time so maybe that is where I fail compared to everyone else that says this size turbo spools like lightning. Let me say to those of you who are planning to do a 66/74 or bigger you must keep your foot in it and turn your tuner up. I personally don't like driving like I stole it everywhere I go. The max boost I hit with MM on HOT was 35psi at 80% throttle. Normal, "real", daily driving it makes about 10-15 psi with tuner set to MIld and throttle no more than 35%.
nice looking install!! which housing did you get the 14 or 16? i find it hard to believe its laggy my buddys truck with the same
mods as yours spools like stock to me

Nice write up. I was wondering the same thing about spool time and how it was under normal driving. So with all the time and money are you glad you went with the swap? Do you see gains in MPG's or what are pro's have you seen so far.

Where do i get the insulation? That's the way the ED kit is designed. It's supposed to make it easier to swap turbo later.
Id recommend a turbo blanket which will retain the heat in the turbine housing and help you spool the charger all for $99 from Levi @ turbo performance products.

It's a 0.91 A/R which equates to about a 16cm housing if I'm not mistaken. It's T4 flange. I didn't think it would be laggy either from what everyone else on here said, but I was suprised to find out how much better the stocker is at spool up.

In hind sight I probably would not do it again or I should've got a different turbo/install kit. Should've saved my coin and just got a GDP wastegate and left the stocker on there. I want to hit 550-600 hp and have a solid DD truck that spools quick. As far as MPG, I really don't have any miles on it to tell. Pro's & con's.....well
Pro's:
- plenty of room to grow, if you're not shooting for 800hp
- low EGTs
- ease of later swap, add twins
Con's:
- laggy unless you run tuner to kill or add nozzles
- very loud in cab, exhaust drones now even w/Flopro muffler
- pricey
- lost some low end torque and punch

Ya i was looking at just getting a waste gate to but when i started reading that swaping turbos would net higher MPG's i started looking into it. I was also looking into the Wildcat VGT's but with no one running it its hard to pull the trigger on that... Keep us updated with the MPG's really intrested in that.

I ordered a black turbo blanket from him. I got the one for S300/400 non-gated housings. That's the one right?
