I think mine does the same thing... is a growl/whine??? does it at random for a few secs and then goes away???

yea it will squeal for a second then just stop. Let me ask you something, how do you like the edge and smarty stacked on your truck?

We put some rubber sheets inbetween the frame and the Airdog mounts to help isolate any motor vibrations from the pump. Just before you tighten up the clamps, lift the unit up so that the top bolts do not rest on the frame. My unit is quieter than many of the same units that did not use some rubber shims. It is easy to do and may help with your problem.

sounds like the motor is kind of noisy to me.

If your DPF is deleted, try throwing a litre of TCW-3 ashless two cycle oil in the tank. Maybe just needs a bit of lubrication?

you can take the gear pump cover off with those few allen head screws on the end and try cleaning in there to inspect for debris. I know lately AD has had some problems with motor shaft hardness and diesel fuel ingress into the motor.

I uze the edge mostly for the gauges. I do plan running Smarty on "stock" and running the edge on "HOT" once again just to compare. I had the Edge on "HOT' before getting the Smarty but have not gone backwards for a comparison.

i have 45K miles on my airdog, and until it just recently started poping fuses it ALWAYS sounded like that. I thought it was normal. Is it not?

Kick off this older thread, but maybe this is new to the problem...Mine is doing this, but the whine does not go away. It will only go away if you OPEN the W/S filter drain. If it is open, then the motor is totally silent and still pumps just fine. What does this mean? The unit is brand new.

Does the motor rest on the frame? If not then I would call Airdog.
