thin intercooler vs thick intercooler

I have a 2009 3500 so I got stuck with the crappy thin intercooler. What years will fit (as a direct replacement). Im gonna want more cooling with the 120's and the 66 I got planned!!

Early 08's have the thicker one. Atleast mine does. Haven't tried to swap any out, but it looks like a direct reacement.

I had Hellman make me one. The tabs are welded at different heights for the 6.7.

I was wondering about OEM coolers, I dont wanna pay $1000+ for a Banks unless I NEED it (or find a great deal on a used one).

Unless your building over 750 HP machine I'd stick with OEM thick intercooler. I only noticed about a 20-100 hp drop in egt's on the street. The top end is where it will shine.
