H&S Programmer

Hello all: looking to get some answers on the new H&S Black Max. I have an 07.5 2500 2wd mega cab w/6.7, six spd auto, and 18000 mi on the odo. Only eng mod is a Banks Ram Air intake. I am satisfied with the power/torque, but dissapointed w/the mileage I'm getting 9-10 city 12-13 hwy. Looking at the H&S programmer and DPF delete. Question: Is there any difference between just unplugging the EGR or installing the EGR delete?? What kind of MPG improvements can I expect?? Any other suggestions... Thanks

Have you thought about the XRT? big price diff between the two. Do you need all the flash or what are you looking to get out of your truck? Just MPG increase? I would go XRT and save some cash. Just food for thought...

I went with the EGR delete because I read of the valve leaking or opening some when left in place, don’t know how much truth there is to that but I went ahead and deleted it all including the cooler.

As far as MPG increase I don’t think you will get a good answer. Each truck seems to be different and beware that some will reply with OHC results. hand calculated with all the all of my mods and XRT on 120ATT setting I have averaged a little over 18 MPG hand calculated running 70-85mph for a 1200mile trip... This is with 35's and 3.42:1 gears. If I slowed it down a bit maybe more and I think if I had better gears I might see more too. Mixed driving I average 16.5-17.5 but admit I have a heavy foot.

Hope this helps!

Delete the EGT completly. Exhaust still makes it's way into the intake with it just unplugged. Plus you lose boost with not blocking the EGR completly. Tge XRT is $699 now aswell.

Thanks for the replies. Now I have to decide weather to spend the money on the BLack Maxx ( I do like the monitoring features ) or save some $$ and go w/the XRT. Thanks again to all who replied.

I just put the H&S EGR delete and the TS Performance MP8 and took my MPG from 9-10 too 13.5 around town and 14.7 on the HWY!
I put my H&S 5'' DPF delete on yesterday and we will see what that dose for me. I am still trying to deside between the BM or the smarty? I am leaning for the BM right now but still doing my homework. Good luck!!

sorry to take this thread in another direction but with the black maxx you can shut the egr and the butterfly right would it matter if you let it alone or would it be wise to delete the egr

i like my black maxx for the guages,,, you can keep an eye on everthing and set de-fuelling to keep it safe,,, as far as fuel milage increases it is hard for me to say,, it is better by 2-3 mpgs but i have had it over a month but have not been able to check milage as i have been hauling an enclosed trailer a lot plus now into winter fuel ,,,,,hope that helps

As Skin indicated you will loose some boost by not deleting it completely.
Here is an example, my buddy has an 09 and he just has the Edge JWA on his truck, at wide open throttle he can hit and hold 34 pounds of boost.
Now on my truck, I have the egr actuator motor deleted and blocked but the egr cooler is still in place. I can hit 31 punds of boost but really can only hold 29-30 pounds.
hope this helps,
Mike
