My Black Maxx Experience!

Well if you followed my http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/6-...ty-vs-xrt.html you know i got a new truck so i had to get a new toy!

Truck Info - 2008 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab, 6.7 4x4, G-56 w/ 3:42, 20' Moto Metal, 33" Toyo M/T, Black Maxx, AFE Mega Cannon, & dpf delete. Smarty behind back seat

1st tank of fuel - Picked the truck up from dealership about 215 miles from home drove 80 to 90 for about 150 miles and then slowed down to 65 mph after exiting interstate to drive the rest of the way home, filled up and hand calculated 15.5 mpg, i am very pleased with this!

2nd Tank - Put 20's with 33's and made a 175 mile trip, drove around town a couple of days then installed AFE Mega Cannon, made a 70 mile trip then filled up, 12.8 mpg, not happy with this

3rd Tank - 200 miles then removed dpf and installed smarty, drove 200 more miles with a mix of town and interstate then filled up, 13.3 mpg

After Installing the Smarty i wasnt happy with the way the engine sounded, sounded like a 1998.5 to 2002 VP44 truck, LOTS OF TIMING Rattle, didnt notice this on my 07.5 auto truck but it is terrible on my 08 6spd manual, so finally i have a reason to order a Black Maxx! I tried smarty on 3, 5 and 7, 7 had the least timing rattle but still pretty bad

Installed Black Maxx on Pillar Mount, Love it and all the functions. Timing rattle is gone also! i am running the programming that came with the Black Maxx for now, set it to the 120 tune, immediatley noticed that it wasnt near as wild as the Hot Damn 175 and 120 with mild turbo tuning of the XRT and it didnt smoke at all, 175 will but not near as much as the 120 i was running on my buddies XRT. I think the Smarty set on 7 was more powerful than the 120 tune of the Black Maxx in the higher RPM range, thing i like about BM is my truck feels lighter and seems to go easier

4th tank - 1100 miles on truck, set it to 175 drove 175 miles, drove 70 on way to destination and 65 on way back, got 17.62 mpg. I Very Pleased with mileage for a truck this big

I am very pleased with my Black Maxx! I will be trying different setting for mpg in the near future stay tuned!

Test Mule!

XRT!

Congrats buddy! You test mule is sweet! I love the Black Maxx. I haven't had it for 24hrs yet but I don't know how I could live without it now. The shift on the fly and activating the special features is the shizzle. Plus you can run the 0hp tune and be 100% code free. I like how fast the Black Maxx downloads. It took no time at all. Plus doing the online updates is super fast and easy.

You downloaded the Aggressive fueling and turbo didnt you? Is it as strong at the Hot Damn 175 ATT? Let me know what your mileage does, i am going to try all settings for mileage, but i am real curious about the aggressive fueling

Yup I updated it to the new 6.7.5 and choose the aggressive fueling and turbo. The 6.7.5 update came out lastweek. The new 6.7.5 was added to all the tunes. The aggressive fueling and turbo tuning is not the same as the Hot Damn ATT. It's is still a very strong tune. Casey will have the Hot Damn ATT avalible for the Black Maxx very soon.

could you test your mileage again, on the Black Maxx best mileage tune, at 60-65 on the highway, with stock tires and rims, if you can, it would be an interesting stat and comparison to your Tank#2 imho

Stock tires and wheels are sold, I can't drive 60!!!! But I will test stock tune between 65 - 70 and the rest of the tunes between 65 and 70! Not sure what happened on that 2nd and 3rd tank, I've never seen tires and wheels kill fuel mileage thar bad! Maybe because it has 3:42

Also for anyone wondering, the G-56 with 3:42 runs at 1870-1875 at 70 mph
