Sun Coast

Called Sun Coast Monday a.m. and confirmed they had the torque converter I needed for my 6.7. before driving 400 miles round trip.Upon arriving at Suncoast I was told That they do not accept business checks . What kind of business does not accept a check from another business???I decided that I could probably go to a local bank in Ft. Walton and make something happen ... but I just had a feeling like I was looked at as a lesser person and that I was appearing to be Shady????? WTF I told him he could call my bank verify funds, go up the street to his bank and he could have them verify..... Whatever, I formed my opinion and now I understand why I was told repeatedly that SunCoast Just aint the same, and that I should really look at another brand. I am also understanding now how they make these torque converters and I know why they need your core!!! I am getting a Precision and I refuse to be looked at as a dirtbag.Maybe the guy was new or doesn't really understand the real business world, but when someone drives that far to buy their product rather than buy something closer to home you want to get that persons money. Do not let them give it to the competition. Business 101.

i am sure your money was good but,

in today's Economy i would not except a business Check either (unless it was certified or bank draft) or unless you had an account set up with the vendor.

i am sure they have been burnt on rubber checks before

i know i have been burnt on a few for some big dollar orders.

If you want to deal with the public thats the risk you take being in business. Seems pretty crapy they would not take a business check! I have my own business and I can drive up to most any fuel stop put $900.00 worth of fuel in my truck and they take my check no questions asked, and no I dont have a account setup with them. I've been burnt on lots of rubber checks and no pays, but thats the chance you take!

I, as a business owner (22yrs.) would have taken a moment away from whatever and transfered the money via phone and went 4 blocks up the street to my bank and I would have wound up w/ the customers money and had a happy customer especially after the customer decided to drive that far. The reason I wanted to use a business check was to have a record of what I spent the money on. I have heard nothing but great things about their products and have nothing but praise for my other SunCoast converter but , come on man give me 5 minutes at your bank ... I drove 4 + hours round trip.

I agree they should have been more understanding

i can understand not wanting a check but not to take 10 min to go with you to the bank is un-called for

Like I said, I have had excellent results w/ their torque converter that i put in my 97..... bullet proof.Looks like I may wind up w/ a Suncoast any way.... through another vendor for $500.00 less than I was gonna pay at Suncoast. Might hit it lucky !!!!

grasmo, get over it. Get a business credit card if you want records. Alot of companies have stopped taking checks personal or business because of the recession and there is a lot more rubber out there then before, and I'm not talking about tires.

Everybody that builds a Torque converter for the 47re, 48re, and 68RFE reuses parts of the stock converter to build you a billet converter. I don't know what you are getting at by that statement.

So Suncoast would not take your Business Check. What is wrong with that. If I plan to use a check around Houston I always call first to be sure because you never know these days. They deal with people all over the states and possibly internation for that matter. Fraud is everywhere. Its a business practice that many companies do. They are not a mom and pop lemonade stand. They could have verified your check and it could have came up good. But what would stop you from canceling that check later before the funds have been transferred and after you got what you wanted. That happens and it probably has happened to them. There is nothing secure about a check.

If you want the strongest tranny for a 6.7 you have no choice then to go with Suncoast. But if you feel you just need a 500hp max rated tranny then ATS or NADP is your tranny for you.
