afe vs s&b

which is the better intake? i have heard good things about both. i had an afe stg2 on my 06 and loved it. however, the new stg 2's look way cheaper than the s&b, plus im thinking the s&b might help keep snow off the filter. opinions please

Just like anything else out there, you get what you pay for. AFE hands down, but on a budget i would go with S&B

IMO AFE. I too had the AFE stg 2 on my 06, and IMO the mega cannon is as close to the one on my 06 as it gets.
Quality is the same IMO. Maybe you were looking at one of there other intakes and not the mega? I recieved the stage 2 si instead of the mega at first, they shipped the wrong one, and I wasn't impressed with the kit, much smaller tube than the mega, and looked cheaper IMO. Some of their intakes don't replace all of the OEM intake , they leave the elbow at the turbo, the Mega replaces it all, just liek the one on my 06. highly reccomended.

No regrets here!

dang it... now i just have to know, what specifically is lacking with the s&b compared to the afe? just when i thought my s&b was a very good quality unit, with nice install, and fit and finish, i may need to upgrade to an afe.

I like that the AFE uses larger piping from the filter to the turbo. The Mega Cannon is the best intake hands down, IMO.

Not sure, never seen a S&B. But the Mega piping is huge!
Didn't measure, but I'd say 7+" in diameter at the filter, it tapers down by the turbo, but from what I have seen by far the largest available.

When you close the hood the AFE is pretty much a sealed box like the S&B

My vote also goes for AFE Stage II With PG7 or the Mega Cannon.

Bigger is not always better
We will have some of the S&B kits here in the next week that we will be selling with our kits.
I think the kits are quality and they will work great.
