Key fob works part time

Just bought 07 mega cab. Key fob sometimes will lock doors sometimes not. Sometimes will unlock sometimes not. Does anyone know where the signal is picked up on the truck.

I think the FOBs are fairly weak. Google "extend FOB range" and I think there's a quick write up on putting a better antenna in the FOB. My 2008 sometimes surprises me with decent distance, other times I need to be nearly ontop of the truck for the FOB to work. I think the pickup is in the rear view mirror area but I could be wrong.
