Service 4 Wheel Drive System

Strange thing just happened to me on my way home the SVC 4WD SYS light was flashing on and off and chiming. When I stopped at the lights it stopped but the temp was now four dashes. Drove on home and outside the house cycled the key and temp is back on. The conditions were raining cats & dogs with some hail. There was standing water but not that deep. I was doing about 30 mph. The rain stopped while I was sitting at the lights so the drive on home was uneventful. Only the wipers were on Not the head lights.
Anyone know what that was?
Thanks

Electrical short or loose connector? Had that happen on a previous truck, check electrical connections around transfer case/tranny and hit em with some WD-40. Just a shot in the dark but at least a starting place.

WD-40 that's different but I'll give it a try when it stops raining

WD-40=water displacement formula 40. Used to use it on distributor caps for gasses when they got wet playing offload. Old man trick
