MegaCab under rear seat storage lockers, or what used to be???

Just traded my 06 Mega for a 2011. Assumed, stupidly, that storage lockers behind rear seats were the same. Just went to start stowing into new truck all my seldom used gear - rescue tow strap, etc. - that I had kept in floor boxes behind the seat on the 2006. WTF?? The larger of the two in floor boxes, behind the "60" of the 60/40 rear seat, is filled from underneath with some bulging plastic blob of I don't know what! Not a big deal, but WTF? Does anybody know the story on this? 06 was SLT automatic; new truck is a Laramie automatic, but I can't think of any reason that would matter. Haven't crawled under truck yet, but I wonder if it's something with the new damn emission exhaust systems?????

The Laramie trim has a 10 speaker Alpine stereo system. the plastic blob under the passenger side rear seat is the Woofer for the system.

So far I haven't needed storage on that side. I have my tow strap and gloves in the passenger side floor box, a cargo net in the driverside floor box, my jumpercables, fire extinguisher and duct tape in the box under the driver side rear seat. I did find that there is a bit of room between the underseat box and the back seat for a neatly folded tarp.

hope that helps.

That sucks, thought they would have kept the storage space. Could remove the woofer Im sure if you dont mind the stero downgrade.
