For those of you with Aftermarket Remote Start

Do you carry your regular key fob & the starter fob?

Id like to know if I could use a basic key copied from my giant key fob along with the remote start fob to keep size down.

Would I have to hide a key in the truck?

Thanks
Donald

Yes, I carry both big FOBs. I didn't like it at first, but have gotten, somewhat, used to it. It isn't like the good 'ole days.

You have a good idea, though. I don't know how easy it would be.

Yes you can do this, I do.

They sell a small box (forget what its called) wih the Viper kit and they basically open up your key and put the sensor into that box.

At a high level, the ignition switch then plugs into that box and then goes into the alarm.

Or just get a none remote entry key cut if you have two factory keys ya don't even need to go to the dealer. If only have one you either need dealer to program it or get a clone key. I can't wait to lose the huge key to bulky for my liking.

I have a Matrix 3.1 think.. It is a 2 way so I carry both. I can use the key fob to lock and unlock. But I like the 2 way communication that tells me the alarm is going off.. or running etc..

You could make a copy of your key and leave the factory key in the truck but the problem with that, as a buddy of mine found out, is if someone breaks into your truck and they find the key. It's bag the shyte out your truck time. Which = Not cool.
