I'd make sure there isnt bacteria in the fuel tank. Once it starts its about 10 grand to get out.
Seen this myself first hand. Had a Cat compactor with a common rail engine. Fuel was full of water and ended up scrapping the entire fuel system. We changed everything, pump, injectors, rail, hard lines, filters, relief and cleaned out everything else. Got the machine running again and then it started having the same sypmtoms as before. Took a fuel sample and it looked like orange juice. Had to replace the entire fuel system again and when we got the sample results back, it was all because of bacteria. Nasty stuff....
Actually, a vehicle is worth what a person is willing to pay and the used truck market is out of sight right now......has been for about a year. We've been amazed what prices people are paying for 1st and 2nd gen dodges lately. There are deals to be found if you can find a private party or dealer that hasn't done their research. I just got an 09 for just under 33K and I see it as I got a deal considering they're running over 35K with more miles. No "books" are even in the ballpark and the auction pricing gives dealers an idea where to start....most people are not buying wholesale.
This is quite true. I change oil a local dealership that sells chrysler/ram/dodge/gmc/chevy/honda/mazda, etc. Around christmas time last year we had a person trade in an 07 mega cab dually 5.9. It was lifter a couple inches, cherry red, aftermarket tires, smarty, and 12,000 on the odometer. They sold that thing for $38k in less than two weeks. I don't know what's worse, a truck like that selling that fast, or seeing an 01 dodge quad cab long box, 4x4, and 60,000 miles on the odometer selling for 22,000 at the same dealership I work at.

Autotrader is the best place to figure out the fair market value. I bought my 08 with 17,000miles on it back in 09 for 32k. I'm glad to see our resale values have leveled out (increased even) but 30k does seem like a bit much for that particular truck. Especially one that has a flagged warranty.

Why on Gods Earth didn't they check the tank the first time?

I was just thinkin the same thing. Got my 08 in 09 with 14,000 miles for 34k. 30k for an 08 seems a little nuts.
