Question cummins 6.7 HO (800lbs) or (600lbs)

I'm looking at buying a 2011 2500 with a 6.7 in it.

I see that cummins released a new HO motor around the same time as said truck was built. How can I tell which motor is has in it?

I called Dodge. They don't know.

Look on the drivers door jam. If it was built in May with an auto it has the 800. If it was built before May 1st its a 650. Also the 800's have an HO badge on the tailgate.

My HO has an emblem stating it's an HO on the tail gate.

It's not an HO then. Do you still think it's worth buying or to keep looking for the HO version? The dealer is giving me a pretty good deal but from what I've read the HO also has an upgraded tranny and torque convertor. I tow alot. My 05 has served me well and can tow whatever I've ever asked it to.

I think it depends on if u are going to keep it stock or not. If u ARE going to keep it stock. Get the HO. If not then save as much as u can on the purchase to put into GO FAST parts.... JMHO

I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for. If you are towing a lighter trailer, not in the mountains, you would probably be very happy with the SO engine. There are much better incentives on the '11 than the '12.

I'm pretty sure that you can only get the H.O. in the 3500 DRW, not in the 2500.

You can get it in either the 2500 or 3500, with the auto trans and the 350/800 are the standard ratings for 2012.
