H46 Recall

The dealer called me the other day and wanted me to come in and have the H46 inspection done. My question is should I go do it or will they lock my ecm with a new flash like the new 09's have. I am planning on deletes and XRT soon and just curious what you all thought.

Thanks

i went in for the recall and all they did was inspect mine and said it was fine . they didn't even take it to the shop . the service writer looked at it in the parking lot . he said he hasn't seen one yet that needs the recall .

Not all '09's have the new ECM. Any new truck built after March '09 has the new ECM. I also believe it's not a flash the dealer can do. It has to come w/ the new ECM. So unless you neeed to replace your ECM w/ a new one. Don't worry about it and have them look at your steering set up.

Hi

The H46 Recall for most, is an inspection only.

To see if you need any thing done.

1/ Look at your linkage where the damper mounts to the link.

2/ If it's a stud through tie bar. No action is required.
The dealer is having the service advisors do this step so most vehicles won't even get to the shop. If you have this style, you should swing by a dealer for them to see it and process the recall paperwork so the recall will be removed from your vin.

3/ If the damper mount is a bracket with 2 u bolts to the tie bar, then it needs to at a minimum get a new inner drag link tie rod end. possibly the full monty (bracket, too).

4/Actually if you can locate a dealer that has service advisors wearing short skirts and
thongs (or less!!) have them check it for you.

Charlie

I like the way you think.
My service advisor does wear short skirts and may wear a thong,
but he really is not my type.
